This branch is that of the descendants of the family of Capt David Reeves Bristow (b.abt1815) who originated from England. He first married in the Bay of Islands, and had a child. He then moved to the East Coast where he married Umutahi and had 3 children. He then married Ani Te Patu Rameka and had another 8 children. Ani herself had a
previous husband before she married Captain Dave, so this branch also contains her Kento-Peachey, Te Ohaere & Kohere descendants (to name a few).
This whakapapa branch contains information, media and links pertaining to the Bristow/Bristowe Whanau. And although this is one of the most comprehensive Bristow whakapapa ever assembled, it is very much a work in progress.
It is a place where you can not only learn from the knowledge of other whanau, but more importantly, it is also where you can share your knowledge with them within the confines of a closed whanau forum.
Help/FAQ Page (New)
This "Help/Frequently Asked Questions Page" will help you get started and guide you through some of the more unique facilities of this website. It answers many of your questions and will allow you to get the most out of the site making your visits more enjoyable and informative. Search without Login (New)
Certain functions including Search Surnames, Search Places, and Search People are available with limited capabilities. You will be able to see a list of names from the whakapapa but the first names of living people will be initialised and their vital dates suppressed. This gives you the opportunity to see if you or an ancestor of yours may be included on the site prior to registering.
Most of us know our grandparents, parents, siblings and children, we know their birthdays and have pictures of them. However, most the whanau whanui don't know this information and we don't know theirs.
What we ask is that each of us please share this basic information with the rest of the whanau. If we were to do this, then our whakapapa would be that much more rewarding, and the wairua of the whanau whanui would be that much more complete.
We also ask that burial details of our tupuna be provided as many whanau have no idea where many of them are buried. Providing this information and a photo will allow whanau to visit them (either physically or virtually) to pay their respects.
Our tipuna deserve this as do our future generations. It is a gift that can so easily be given, if only we were each to take a little time to help, with which is essentially "Our whanau legacy"
